He is the founder, artistic director and conductor of the “Rantos Collegium” (1978-1996) later renamed “Melbourne Chamber Orchestra” which has participated in many major festivals, touring with the Victorian State Opera, as well as touring the USA, Europe and East Asia.

In 1990-92, Spiros was the Musical Director of the Melbourne Youth Orchestra and from 1987-97, he was the Director of the Chamber Strings of Melbourne, a youth training string orchestra, which he conducted on seven international tours to Asia, Europe and the USA.
