COVID-19 UPDATE - July 29 2020
The Eisteddfod committee are looking forward to hosting our very different 2020 eisteddfod. There have been many changes due to the Covid-19. We appreciate your support and patience through this difficult time. Attached is our Covid-19 Safe Plan. We ask that you read through before attending this year's eisteddfod. Please be aware of Audience members are strictly limited to ONE guest per performer. This has been a hard decision but the only fair one across the whole eisteddfod and again we thank you for your understanding.

Thank for your support, understanding and patience for the Sunshine Coast Junior Eisteddfod. We are pleased to be able to offer a condensed version. COVID safe guidelines are being prepared and will be emailed to all competitors.

- REMINDER:
- Closing date for own choice music has been extended to Thursday 23 July – please upload via our online portal at www.scje.org.au Select your section and click on forms.
2. LARGE ENSEMBLES:
- At this stage no decision has been made regarding the large ensemble sections of the Eisteddfod which includes Bands, Choirs, Orchestras and Speech Choirs. Once the current Eisteddfod is completed, we will review this area.

COVID-19 Update - May 24, 2020
Once again, thank you for your support of the Sunshine Coast Junior Eisteddfod & we are pleased to present an update for your information.
Please forward this on to any teachers, students or families who may be affected.
In these challenging times we are very excited to see nominations for 2020 still coming in, however things are still very much up in the air & we must rely on government directives in an ever-changing environment!
1. REMINDER:
· Closing date for entries is Sunday 31st May – please lodge entries & payment via our online portal at www.scje.org.au
· Closing date for Own Choice music is currently being reviewed and details will follow shortly.
2. Given the current & proposed government “road map ” we are looking to hold at least some format of Eisteddfod – albeit modified
3. Once entries have closed, the SCJE Committee will assess exactly which items in which sections will go ahead, but at this stage we foresee the following:
· NO large ensemble competition in this first setting – However as restrictions continue to ease we will be reassessing these sections of the Eisteddfod and/or would look at offering another performance opportunity to those ensembles who have placed a nomination prior to our entry closing date to showcase the exceptional talent here on the Sunshine Coast
· Small ensembles may proceed but will depend on number of entries & governing restrictions closer to the event
· Solos, duets, trios & quartets will go ahead, although not every item may proceed – information will be communicated once entry volumes are assessed.
· Dates yet to be confirmed – dependent on venues & ability to conform with government directives – however early to mid Term 3 still our best option.
4. Refunds – following the closure of Eisteddfod entries on May 31st, an assessment will be made regarding the potential conduct of various sections &/or items. Should it be decided that an item or section not be held, entrants will be contacted to arrange appropriate refunds. Further information will be communicated as things become clearer.
**All decisions will be made subject to relevant government & health department advice**

COVID-19 Update - April 29, 2020
The eisteddfod committee is monitoring the restrictions under Covid-19 and our contingency plans to date include the following:
1. Closing date of entries will be extended to May 31st 2020 (end of Week 6)Current government advice is a review of school activities at or around Week 5. As stated previously, should the eisteddfod or items be cancelled, any pre-paid entry fees will be refunded.
2. Options for uploading of video recordings of solo & potentially some group performances via a portal link is being investigated whereby remote adjudication & reporting would be provided.
3. Should restrictions be eased in ways that would allow some format of performance to be held in a public place, this would be considered when information becomes available and would likely be later Term 3 should it be possible at all.
In a constantly changing environment of restrictions and social distancing, we are considering many potential scenarios in the hope we can provide performance opportunities for the young performers of the Sunshine Coast sometime during 2020.
