Speech - Australian Verse

Own Choice narrative, lyrical or humorous. Verse must have Australian content (i.e. Our lifestyle), an Australian narrative, history, animals pertaining to Australia or our cultural identity, etc.

Drama - Character Recital

One character only – costume optional.  12 and under  is an ORIGINAL character  devised by the student with teacher or parental assistance and therefore not found in an existing story, play or monologue.   13-18 years Character recital MUST be  created from a character in a novel or from a play or film script.  Source must be cited on script. 

IF YOU ENTER THE CHARACTER RECITAL YOU MAY NOT ENTER THE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Character Recital created from a character in a novel or from a play or film script. Source must be cited on script. You are not to enter this section if competing in the Drama Championship

Drama Championship

Two Pieces to be performed. Please note that a classic should be an esteemed and recognisable work.

a) Character Recital from a published play (2.5 minutes max) AND
b) An improvisation of 2.5 minutes topic given by the examiner. (Warning Bell at 2 minutes).
14 Senior Drama Championship 14 - 18 years 5 mins $15
  Competitors must do both
a) Monologue from a published play from the 20th Century AND
b) Monologue from a published play from another period of literature ie Shakespearean era, Greek, Victorian, Restoration
Total program not exceeding 5 min

Drama - Duologue

Own choice.

  Piece must be from a published play and not from a skit to film. The time limit is a Maximum, you are able to go under this limit but not over it .

DRAMA- GROUP MIME

Own Choice to Music

  Groups of 3-8 Perform a GROUP MIME TO MUSIC. Music is to be brought along on the day Time limit is 3 minutes. The theme of the mime to Music can be Literal, Narrative or Expressionistic, but not a DANCE.

COMPETITORS SHOULD AVOID THE USE OF WORDS AND MATERIAL THAT ARE NOT REGARDED AS ACCEPTABLE IN A FAMILY GROUP OR POLITE SOCIETY. CONTESTANTS USING “UNACCEPTABLE” WORDS COULD FACE DISQUALIFICATION.
