Speech - Australian Verse

Own Choice narrative, lyrical or humorous. Verse must have Australian content (i.e. Our lifestyle), an Australian narrative, history, animals pertaining to Australia or our cultural identity, etc.

Speech Championship

Two pieces to be performed. Please note that a classic should be an esteemed and recognisable work.

Speech - Group Speaking Ensemble

Choirs up to 50 Voices

Primary School Group Speaking - members from Prep to year 6. Both A and B to be performed selecting contrasting nature.

Drama - Character Recital

One character only – costume optional.  11 and under  is an ORIGINAL character  devised by the student with teacher or parental assistance and therefore not found in an existing story, play or monologue.   12-15 years Character recital MUST be  created from a character in a novel or from a play or film script.  Source must be cited on script. 

IF YOU ENTER THE CHARACTER RECITAL YOU MAY NOT ENTER THE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Drama - Shakespearean Recital

Drama - Improvisation

Own Choice. Individual is required to devise a scene by creating speech and action based on a theme provided by the adjudicator. A balance of speech and action is required. A warning bell will be rung at the 2.5 minute mark. No pre-prepared work eligible.

Drama Championship

Two Pieces to be performed. Please note that a classic should be an esteemed and recognisable work.

  Competitors must do both
a) Monologue from a published play from the 20th Century AND
b) Monologue from a published play from another period of literature excluding Shakespearean era and the 20th century .
Both pieces together should not exceed 5 minut
16 Junior Drama Championship 11 - 14 years 2.5 mins $15
  Competitors are to do both
a) Character Recital from a published play (2.5 minutes max) AND
b) An improvisation of 2.5 minutes topic given by the examiner. (Warning Bell at 2 minutes).

COMPETITORS SHOULD AVOID THE USE OF WORDS AND MATERIAL THAT ARE NOT REGARDED AS ACCEPTABLE IN A FAMILY GROUP OR POLITE SOCIETY. CONTESTANTS USING “UNACCEPTABLE” WORDS COULD FACE DISQUALIFICATION.
